It has been an amazing three years since I started out on this little adventure in photography and I would have never been able to do it with out all of the support from my family, friends and everyone who has smiled for me.

90 Degrees to the left

Sometimes just turning a picture 90 degrees can lead to a completely different story. Last weekend I took my sons out hiking in the woods. Even though it felt like spring, it didn't quite look like it. As we were heading out, the boys started climbing on some old fallen trees and that's where we discovered hundreds of shelf fungus living on the decaying logs. I got some good shots but nothing was really speaking to me, then I flipped an image 90 degrees and suddenly I had a whole new image.

There is always more than one way to look at something, when the view gets old, just try tilting your head a little.

Thank you to everyone who helped make 2011 such a great year for Churetta Photography! It was truly a pleasure to work with so many great families this year. I was lucky enough to be photographing right up to the last day of the year with Emily and Josh's New Year's Eve engagement session in downtown Bethlehem.

History lesson

I've always been a little bit of a history buff. This morning I managed to sneak out of the house for a few hours to check out the living history civil war encampment down in historic Bethlehem. Its always great when the living history re-enactors get to set-up in an actual historic location. I managed to get some great shots before the crowds started to move in and after a few minutes in photoshop, I managed to create some pretty accurate looking images... Enjoy.

Glass by Erica

A few weeks back I had the opportunity to work with an extremely talented local artist named Erica Biery. Erica works with glass and creates some amazing pieces of jewelry, bowls and stained glass pieces to list a few. She also creates unique cutting boards by melting wine and liquor bottles. She can even have your wedding invitation fused with your favorite wine bottle to create an awesome keepsake from your wedding day.

It has been a while since I had the opportunity to post. I have been super busy with summer sessions, editing weddings and of course having some summer fun with Will, Robbie and Audra. I hope to get back to updating the blog at least once a week but over the next few days I will be playing catch-up and post a bunch of my favorites from the last few weeks.
In the mean time, here are a few from an engagement session I had this past weekend. We started high above Easton at Morgan Hill Golf Course where Dustin proposed to Corinne and finished along the canal and Delaware River. I had a blast working in the new locations and working with the couple.

Last weekend, I had the opportunity to photograph Kristen's and Matt's Wedding. You may recognize them from an engagement session last year. The day was beautiful and the bridal party was a blast to work with. Kristen was a real trooper by jumping into the middle of a wheat field without hesitation for a photo op. Last Weekend's Session

The maternity session this past weekend was supposed to take place at Monacacy Park, but as I came around the corner heading to the parking lot, I was surprised to see swarm of people attending a music festival right in the middle of the park! Fortunately, Bethlehem is not short of great locations to shoot. So after a few frantic phone calls to the mom-to-be, we ended up capturing some terrific images in historic Bethlehem.

I had a great engagement session this weekend with a wonderful couple named Tiffany and Justin. The weather was warm and sunny despite rumors of a monster snow storm that should have left 40 inches, instead it was almost 60 degrees!
We took the portraits along the Lehigh River in Northampton where Justin proposed and coincidentally was the same place I was married.

Normally when it comes to taking pictures of my own kids, the results aren't always so good. Will and Robbie are not very "cooperative" when it comes to pictures. But when I told them that is was a special Valentine's Day present for Mommy, the two were perfect little models...for about 5 minutes.

I got to finish 2009 with a great engagement session in NJ. Mike and Sarah were a blast to work with and despite the cold, we managed to capture some wonderful images. Mike is will be heading out shorty with the Marines but on this day Sarah was the real trooper climbing up and down steep rocky trails in heels to reach the lake shore.

Where one road Ends, another Begins

For the past eight years, I have had the pleasure of photographing the children and families of the Lehigh Valley and beyond for a studio in a small chain called "Sadie's". During my time with this company, I have helped build studios all across the country, train photographers, design custom props and scenery, and create elaborate digital art works and effects, but most importantly I have made thousands of children laugh, hundreds of proud parents smile, and even a few moms shed some happy tears. Underneath all of the hats I wore, I was at heart a photographer.
My time with this company is no more, another victim of a slow economy, and although I will miss the studio I have helped build, I am excited to start building another...my OWN.
I was 14 when I found my Dad's Olympus OM-1 camera. I was hooked from the first press of the shutter. The pictures from that first roll of film are still in an album next to my desk.
Over the years I have tried my hand at several niches of photography: sports photography for the school yearbook and later as team photographer for the Pennsylvania Valley Dawgs Basketball Team, photojournalism as a stringer photographer for East Penn Press and occasionally the Express Times and Morning Call, but I found my true muse was working with families and kids.
So I start out on this journey with a passion for photography, a drive to create art, and 15 month old twin sons as my inspiration.
